I Found Hope

As many people say:  “I have known God ever since I was just old enough to understand the concept of the fact; there IS a God.”

Yes, I said that too and that is not all bad.  It is, however, not good enough to reach the final destination where God awaits us.

I was saved in 1972.  That is when I gave myself – heart and soul to Jesus.  I was sure of my salvation.  I know that Jesus did for me on that day all that is necessary to be a child of God – heaven bound.  For all the years from that day till about a year, year and a half ago, I was not really thinking about my salvation.  It was done.

After having sat under the preaching of Rev. Mark Williams, having had numerous conversations with members of Lake Bowen Baptist Church, I began to doubt if I had been “ready to be saved” that day, long ago.  I wanted to be absolutely sure that I was not just thinking I was saved.  Wednesday the 17th of January 2007 I prayed again, the sinner’s prayer, this time in the presence of Rev. Kenny McDowell.  I know, beyond the shadow of a doubt that I am saved.

The Christian life is wonderful.  I have become better able to deal with the ups and downs that life will bring.  Most of all, I am a happier person.

We will all experience “down days”  -  but I can deal with those times in a more reasonable way.  I love being a Christ saved individual.

In the spring of 2007 a test of my faith came along in the form of sickness.  I received medical treatments that were very unpleasant, but necessary.  At the same time I was the benefactor of many, many prayers, and the sweetest companionship and help from my capable wife Katie.  God is good; bless His wonderful name.
