Danny and Trina Roe’s Testimony
(“We Found Christ!”)
Happiness should have come easy for us. Both raised in loving, Christian homes, we had everything this world had taught us to pursue – good educations, successful careers, and even a solid marriage. Yet, none of it seemed to bring us the joy we so desperately sought.
Our lives were first transformed after the birth of our two children. Looking back now, we realize that this was an indication of what was to come. We began to sacrifice in ways we never knew possible. Learning to care for self last took some getting used to, but what a fulfilling and precious gift! Neither of us had ever felt so needed and loved and we, likewise, had never loved anyone so much. We had so much to be thankful for.
After relocating to South Carolina in 2003, we began to realize that something else was still missing. We had no idea that our lives were about to be transformed in an extraordinary way!
We found Lake Bowen Baptist Church a few years later. As we began to learn about Jesus, we became hungry to know more. We dreaded leaving church on Sunday because neither of us were certain of where we would spend eternity. We both kept feeling that we needed to be worthy of God’s love and forgiveness. We had so much to learn!
In the coming months, we began to pray, study and discuss the Bible together outside of church. Our conversations were intense and our passion to serve the Lord increased. Clearly, God was drawing us to Him. We began to understand the remarkable sacrifice that Jesus made on the cross… He died for us so that we could be with Him.
In 2007, we finally found what we’d been missing all these years – a relationship with Jesus Christ. We were still completely unworthy of His love, but we realized that our sin debt had already been settled on the cross. Amazingly, by surrendering to Him, we discovered a freedom and a joy that we’d never known before.
Today, we are still growing, but we have a hope, a peace, a joy, and a purpose, that we could only imagine before. We love our pastor, as well as our church family, and look forward with great anticipation to how God will use us for His glory.
