Seventeen years ago, I accepted a job at a local childcare center working in the Toddler classroom.  Little did know, this “job” would build the foundation for what would become a life-long career for me.  My name is Shelly Atkins and I am the Weekday Preschool Director at Lake Bowen Baptist Church in Inman, South Carolina.  I was born here, was raised here, and still I am proud to call Inman my home.  I have been attending Lake Bowen Baptist (formerly Rock Hill Baptist) for over 30 years.  I am a 1994 graduate Boiling Springs High School and following graduation was accepted into the Early Childhood Education program at Converse College in Spartanburg, SC.

As a child, the importance of being an active part of a local church was instilled in me, and is a belief that I am currently passing along to my own children.  I have 3 wonderful children that keep me very busy outside of work.  I have a 12 year old son, Coleman, a 10 year old daughter, Cayla and an 8 year old, Camden.  The boys keep me on the baseball field and Cayla keeps me going year round with her involvement in competitive cheerleading. 

In May 2007, Lake Bowen Baptist Church Childcare Center opened its doors to our very own weekday preschool program.  After 6 months of work and preparation, we were open for business.  I have been blessed by serving in the Director position since that very first day and not a day goes by that I do not thank God for the awesome opportunity with which I have been blessed.
